Tom is a trainer, consultant, and coach with over 18 years experience as a senior executive in behavioral medicine and health care. After earning a masters degree in counseling education from the University of Connecticut, Tom served as a leader in several health care organizations, for example he was Director of the Mind Body Medical Institute and VP at Bon Secours Richmond Health System, and CEO of Charter Westbrook Behavioral Health System, Inc.
In 1998, in addition to his executive duties, Tom developed and implemented an Institute for Mind/Body Medicine with Harvard Medical School's Mind/Body Institute.
As Six Seconds Senior Consultant, Tom has inspired professionals in many fields to live with purpose and intention and expand their vision of possibility.
Tom developed the Resiliency Paradigm and Relationship-Centered Leadership to assist professionals, teams and organizations to enhance and strengthen their skills and capacities for peak professional and organizational performance. Tom is the author of numerous articles, including The Climate for Success, A Happy Advantage, Resiliency: the Essential Component of Leadership and Retention VitalSigns: Focus on the Relationship. He is a featured speaker presenting at major conferences: National Association of Elementary School Principals Annual Convention, NexusEQ Conference, Employee Assistance Professionals Association Conference, Council for Community Behavioral Health, Employee Assistance Roundtable and Harvard Medical Schools Spirituality in Medicine Conference.
Toms ability to understand and speak to the heart of professional and organizational issues is grounded in his many years serving as a senior level manager in healthcare systems. These experiences bring to life his workshop material. He talks the talk and he has walked the walk. His direct experiences add a deeper level of creditability and meaning to his message.
In addition to his training, coaching and consulting practice, Tom is an adjunct faculty member at the Robbins School of Business, Management Institute, at the University of Richmond where he teaches the course Leadership the EQ Way.
