We conduct research to help clients understand the drivers of performance and to advocate for emotional intelligence. Our training programs provide practical, innovative tools that people can immediately apply.
10% for Children
We are committed to supporting future generations to grow up with emotional intelligence. At least 10% of all income to the Institute for Organizational Performance is contributed to our sister organization, the Institute for EQ Education. These funds are used to educate teachers, develop materials for schools and families, and provide scholarships to trainings.
We encourage clients to consider matching these contributions.
About Six Seconds
The Institute for Organizational Performance is the corporate arm of Six Seconds, a nonprofit organization founded in 1997 and dedicated to bringing emotional intelligence into practice in organizations, schools, and communities. Our Chairman and team created a two-time Federal Blue Ribbon school where emotional intelligence was a key component.
Since then, weve applied our effective learning process in a wide variety of organizational settings from hospitality to healthcare. Our 2001 project with The Brown Schools and 2003 project with the Sheraton Studio City are documented in the Case Studies library.
In 1998 Six Seconds launched an innovative Certification training to teach the Six Seconds' approach to consultants and trainers. The program has been highly successful with internal and external consultants, and also a lifechanging opportunity for many leaders. Weve delivered the EQ certification training to over 500 professionals from six continents.
In 2000, we launched the first-ever international emotional intelligence conference on practical applications of EQ in business, education, and health. Since then we've created the NexusEQ Conference in Durban, Halifax, and Orlando, The Netherlands, with future conferences scheduled in Singapore and Cape Town.
Our research focuses on organizational climate, emotional intelligence, and effectiveness. Our Organizational Vital Signs assessment helps leaders keep a "finger on the pulse" of the organization by quickly and accurately measuring the climate. The Six Seconds Emotional Intelligence Test (SEI) helps individuals assess and develop their own emotional intelligence.
In addition to our organizational programs, Six Seconds has published an award-winning school curriculum, Self-Science, the EQ for Families program, five activity calendars, two volumes of the Handle With Care EQ Activity Book, and to the EQ Learning Journal. The organization has published numerous articles on EQ in business, family, educational, and personal life.
